Right from time immemorial, literature has been in existence, it could either be in form of oral or written. Moreover, these two types of literature have an aim of depicting the occurrences or happening in any given society.
However, the issue of corruption in politics and leader ship in Nigerian society has been a thought provoking issue among the early African literary writers.
Consequently, this research work is undertaken to reveal the themes of corruption in politics is amplified African literature. Therefore, it is not dispute able fact that African is poorest continent in natural resource. In any case, today, the image of this blessed continent is battered by corruption and lead ship crisis.

Without reservation, from the office of the president and prime minister to the smallest administration unit of government, corruption is found everywhere, crucial to this crisis corruption engulfing African continent is the probe of purposeful leadership that progressive change and development.
Of course, in Nigerian, we see corruption and etude in leadership as a fact of life. In fact, it has been argued in many for that the main problem that has bedeviled Nigerian is poor leadership and corruption these two issue have been (i) entities as roof causes Nigerian socio-economic and political problems.
Furthermore, Nigeria leadership is characterized by such negative features is sensitivity to plight of the citizen are languishing in object poverty and hunger, squalor, diseases and destitution, Nigeria leaders are only after working strategies on how to enrich and perpetuate themselves in office. Specifically, the major problem that the country is facing is the insincerity and infectivity of our leaders to the need of the cordially people whom the have been elected to serve.

In addition, the democracy embraced by Nigeria in 1999 was produced the leader whom hare plight the life Nigerian whom now wallow in penury, illiteracy, hunger, and unemployment. Thus, these corrupted leaders have criminally mismanaged the country is resources corruption and ineffective leader have impacted negatively in Nigeria’s democracy and her economic development. However, the Nigerian legislature is the product of political corruption as men and women elected into the two legislature shambles got these through fraudulent electoral processes.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Undeniably, it has been observed that the period of writing determines the theme and subject matter of any literary work. Therefore, the main problem of this research work is the issue of corruption in politics in African literature.
This is the issue that involves many literary writes spending decades and equally their funds and moment in finding out the factor militating the corrupt prates in Nigerian society. This research work therefore will point out the ills and also correct those ills that will help us to maintain a good standard of politics in African and larger society.
1.3 Purpose of the Study
The main purpose of this study was on the theme of corrupt politics and leadership in post independent African society in Armah’s the beautyful ones are not yet born and Achebe’s a man of the people. Specifically, purpose of this study includes:
